Duthie has completed in excess of 40,000 offshore miles. Offshore sailing includes 7 races to the Pacific islands, 3 Transpac’s, 2 Sydney Hobart’s, and 12 trips across the ditch. Duthie has won 2 NZ National titles, 1 Australian National Title and 1 Hong Kong National Title. He represented New Zealand in Yachting in 1992, winning the Kenwood Cup and Class F with “Medicine Man” the Lidgard 35 he designed and built.
Duthie is a member Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and has been involved with voluntary work such as being Commodore of the Westpark Cruising Club, Convenor of the YNZ IMS Committee, YNZ Honorary Safety Inspector and President of the NZ Magic25 Class Association.
Duthie is a qualified Boat builder, a yacht designer, holds NZ Coastal Skipper and HK Pleasure Yacht Masters and Engineers tickets Class II.
Duthie has just turned 50 and is married to Sharron, who has raced competitively with Duthie in the past but is now “retired”. They have a daughter Nichola who lives in New Zealand and son Duthie who is a professional sailor in the USA, living with his Kiwi wife Angela and their two sons, Dylan (3) and Blake (1).
